🦠 Tuberculosis Awareness: Protecting Our Communities Through Education & Care

At Home Care Plus, we believe that awareness is the first step toward prevention and healing. Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s most persistent infectious diseases, and while it is preventable and treatable, it continues to affect millions globally—including right here in our communities.

What is Tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs but capable of impacting other parts of the body. TB spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks.

Why Awareness Matters

Many people with TB may not show symptoms right away. This is known as latent TB infection, which can later develop into active TB disease if left untreated. Early detection and proper treatment are key to stopping the spread and protecting vulnerable populations—especially seniors and those with weakened immune systems.

Signs & Symptoms of Active TB:

  • Persistent cough lasting more than 3 weeks
  • Chest pain
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Fever and night sweats
  • Unexplained weight loss

Our Role in TB Prevention

As a home care agency, we are committed to:

  • Educating our caregivers and clients about TB risks and prevention
  • Supporting regular health screenings and TB testing
  • Promoting safe, hygienic environments for all individuals under our care

Take Action

If you or a loved one is at risk, talk to your healthcare provider about TB testing. For more information, visit the CDC’s Think. Test. Treat TB campaign

Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and build healthier communities—one home at a time.
