A recent study published in the May issue of The American Journal of Medicine found that older people who ate a typical Western diet–one high in processed and red meat, high-fat dairy, and refined sugars–were more likely to suffer premature aging and death. People are living longer in general, but many suffer from chronic illness and physical and cognitive decline as they age.
