Halloween can be fun for all ages. However, seniors with dementia and other physical limitations, Halloween can cause negative impacts, such as confusion or falls.
The following are some safety tips for seniors on Halloween:
Keep floors, entry ways and porches free of decorations.
Add night lights near door ways and halls to keep them well lit.
Avoid window decorations that block light.
Use only safe pumpkin carving tools and battery operated lights instead of candles.
Be available to answer the door and keep them safe.
