– Take small breaks throughout the day.
– Do something just for you. Everyone needs regular time to themselves. - Schedule regular breaks.
– Get someone to sit with your older adult while you take a break.
– Use family members or in-home caregivers to take over while you take a break. - Stop wishful thinking.
– It is important to manage your emotional energy, as well as your time.
– Wishing or hoping something will change even though you have seen the same outcome time after time
is a drain on your emotional energy. It doesn’t feel good to admit things won’t change, but accepting the
way things are allows you to use your valuable energy on positive things, rather than wishing for
something and then getting frustrated when it does not happen.
