A small silver lining of the current pandemic is that this year’s flu numbers are at an all-time low in South Carolina. According to DHEC, the total number of cases so far this year is 77. Compared to this time last year, the total number of cases was over 4,000. Health experts credit the precautions that citizens are taking against Covid-19 as the reason these numbers are so low. If mask wearing and hand washing continue throughout the year, we may have record setting low numbers of flu cases in South Carolina.
