Brain Changes and Aging: Lower Sleep Quality in the Elderly Affects Memory

A study published in Nature Neuroscience looked at the natural brain changes that happen as we age and their impact on memory.  As we get older the quality of our sleep declines due to changes in the prefrontal cortex, and these sleep changes are linked to declining memory.
