Although Thanksgiving is over, it is good to still remember what we are grateful for and give thanks. Try to ensure that seniors have opportunities to give thanks for the great things in their lives. Think about positive things and reminisce about good times. If a senior is starting to experience symptoms of dementia, try to reminisce about experiences that happened long ago. Dementia often impacts short-term memory first, so talk about those long-term memories.
Thankfulness exercises can keep a positive tone and attitude. Bulletin boards and other crafts can help remind people of the things they are grateful for.
