DONATED BLANKETS HELP SERIOUSLY ILL OR TRAMATIZED CHILDREN in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties
Project Linus organizes gifts of new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers” to children, ages infant to 18, who are seriously ill, traumatized, or in dire need. Project Linus began in December 1995, is comprised of nearly 400 chapters across the United States and has donated more than 6,000,000 blankets to children.
All blanket styles are welcome such as knit, crochet, quilt, sew or no-sew fleece blankets, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. There are no deadlines or quotas, and you create in the comfort of your home. Monetary donations are also gratefully accepted.
To help get you started, they have a “Patterns” page with links to many popular, free patterns. On their “Friends” page you will find mention of several businesses that help Project Linus.
Prior to making any blankets or contributing other supplies donations, you are encouraged to contact your local chapter coordinator.
