Public Safety Appreciation Day Had A Great Turnout!

May 22nd, 2012 was Public Safety ( Fire, EMS, Police, Safety) Appreciation Day from 10 to 2 at Waterfront Park, Mount Pleasant.  Many local firefighters, police, and EMS workers came out to enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs straight off the grill. A display of public safety vehicles on the grounds of the park allowed visitors to get an up-close viewing of the vehicles and to take pictures. MUSC also had the Medic Helicopter on display, and one lucky raffle winner’s prize was a flight for two around Charleston on the helicopter. SWAT was dressed to impress and had a fully equipped SWAT van on-site for visitors to tour.

Many sponsors were set-up under tents, including Home Care Plus, Sam’s Club, and multiple divisions from MUSC Hospital (the Trauma Unit, Stroke Unit, the Pediatrics Unit, as well as their specialized flight team). Many goodies were raffled off, as well as nice gifts passed out in appreciation of our local public safety divisions. Sirens and Horns were set-off for entertainment, and everyone got an exciting view of the helicopter lift-off. It was a fantastic event and a great way for people to get to know each other in the same field of business.  There was a wonderful turnout and every donation was greatly appreciated.
