How To Manage Multiple Medications

Taking multiple medications can be more than just confusing for the patient–it could also be deadly.  Approximately 125,000 people die each year as a result of not taking their medications as prescribed, and 10% of all hospital admissions are also caused by medication misuse.  There is a lot to think about when taking multiple medications, such as possible drug interactions (its best to use one physician and one pharmacy for prescriptions) and keeping track of which medicine and dosage to take at what times.  An easy way to help keep organized is to initiate a medication reminder system (consider an app for your phone).  For more helpful tips on managing medications, read The Medication Management Challenge from Caregiver.com.
