Surprising Family Caregiving Statistics

Did you know that the typical caregiver is a woman in her mid 40’s with some college education? ¬†She often spends 20+ hours a week caring for her mother, and her role as caregiving usually last over 4 years.

According to a recent study by the National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP, over 44 million Americans age 18 or older are providing unpaid care to an adult. The “cost” of this unpaid care is estimated at $257 billion per year.
