Client Testimonial: Finding the Right Caregiver in a Crisis

Sometimes life isn’t fair.  Doris M. had already been on hospice care because of cancer for many months when her husband passed away in July.  Just a few days after his death, she fell and broke her hip.  Surgery was out of the question and now Doris, who is 90 years old, was bedridden.  Knowing how adamant she was about not being placed in a nursing home, her son Darrell and the rest of the family immediately began looking for an in-home care provider.  Fortunately Doris’ hospice care worker recommended several agencies to Darrell and spoke highly of Home Care Plus, the first agency she mentioned.  Choosing the right caregiver for your loved one is never an easy task, but after meeting with the staff and speaking to several existing clients, Darrell decided to hire Home Care Plus.

When asked what impressed him most about his experience with Home Care Plus, Darrell said, “They were able to bring a team in immediately without advanced notice, and the caregivers were all attentive and prompt when responding to my mom’s requests.”  He continued, “My mom is not always easy to get along with, but Home Care Plus resolved any personality conflicts immediately, without asking questions.”  He believes that “there is no way she would get the kind of care Home Care Plus provides in a nursing home.”  His mother can be pretty particular, especially when it comes to cleanliness, and he felt that the staff was saintly about dealing with his mother’s concerns.  For Darrell, attitude as much as actions were critical when he was selecting a caregiver for his mother, and he was impressed by the compassion, patience, professionalism, and tolerance all of the staff at Home Care Plus exhibited while caring for his mother.
